Life of the Virgin post crucifixionem
The whole shows some parts more finished than others because of the sudden departure of maestro Stefano who suddenly left the site to return to Tuscany due to the heat and the climate, as is mentioned by Vasari. In fact, two sides are certainly more finished and two have been left as simple drawings, although completed more quickly and synthetically afterwards. However, on the basis of Vasari’s testimony, the overall drawing should be attributed to Stefano Fiorentino. The extraordinary 'Glory of the Virgin', which reveals itself gradually to the eyes of visitors whilst they advance along the aisle towards the altar, is also to be attributed to him.
