Museum of the Opera of Santa Croce

Firenze - Museums

The museum houses works of art from the church and the convent of Santa Croce. Inaugurated in the early twentieth century, it was severely damaged by the 1966 floods. The former fourteenth-century refectory houses the famous crucifix by Cimabue which was damaged by the Arno flooding, and the fresco by Taddeo Gaddi dated 1333 on the back wall. The museum complex includes the Pazzi Chapel and the main cloister by Filippo Brunelleschi.
